Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport: Take the Ferrotramviaria airport train to Bari Centrale: about 17–20 minutes, roughly €5.30, usually two per hour. It is the sensible default. The Tempesta shuttle takes about 30 minutes and costs about €5; AMTAB bus 16 is cheaper (about €2.50) but takes around 40 minutes and is not worth the saving with luggage. Use the fixed-fare taxi only when split between people or arriving very late: about €25 to the centre.
Bari Centrale (Piazza Aldo Moro): This is the real hub for Trenitalia’s long-distance and regional trains, plus Ferrovie del Sud Est services. Murat begins immediately outside; Bari Vecchia is a straightforward 15–20-minute walk west via Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. For Matera, use the separate Ferrovie Appulo Lucane (FAL) building just to the left of the station square when facing outward—do not assume every regional train leaves from the main concourse.
