Sangster International Airport: For the Hip Strip/Gloucester Avenue or central Montego Bay, use a hotel-arranged transfer or the licensed taxi rank outside arrivals; it is a genuinely short ride—about 10–15 minutes to downtown, often 5–10 minutes to nearby resort hotels. Expect roughly US$15–25 depending on destination; agree the fare before getting in. Do not accept unsolicited rides in the terminal or outside it. There is no useful rail link, and public buses are not the sensible arrival transfer with luggage.
Montego Freeport cruise terminal: Freeport is about 3 km south of the centre. The straightforward independent option is the terminal shuttle to City Centre Shopping Mall, reported at about US$2 each way, then walk selectively or take a licensed taxi. A taxi downtown is about US$10. Cruise-line tours are not necessary just to reach town, but do leave plenty of return time: this is not a city where wandering unfamiliar side streets to find transport is wise.
